Plantar fasciitis is the commonest cause of heel pain due to inflammation or swelling of the plantar fascia at the point it attaches to the calcaneum bone. The major complaint of those with plantar fasciitis is pain at the bottom of the heel or sometimes at the bottom mid-foot area. The pain can be dull or sharp. Some people feel a burning or ache on the bottom of the foot extending outward from the heel.
The pain is usually worse in the morning when you take your first steps out of bed, or if you’ve been sitting or lying down for a while. Climbing stairs can be very difficult due to heel stiffness.
Physical therapy is a key part of treatment for plantar fasciitis. It can help stretch your plantar fascia and Achilles tendons. If those don’t ease the pain, an injection of a corticosteroid with the help of ultrasound directly into the damaged section of the ligament can help.In case of chronic cases REGENERATIVE therapies like (PRP)also can be given with good results.
