Neuropathic Pain

Neuropathic pain is usually chronic PAIN CONDITION  caused by damage or injury to the nerves. The pain is usually described as shooting or burning pain and affected areas are often sensitive to the touch. Conditions which can predispose patients to
developing neuropathic pain include diabetes, vitamin deficiencies, cancer, HIV, stroke, multiple sclerosis, shingles, and cancer treatments.Nerve entrapment syndromes such as Carpal tunnel syndrome,Tarsal tunnel syndromes too can cause Neuropathic pain.In addition trauma to any nerve also can cause Complex Regional Pain Syndrome which is a type of Neuropathic pain.Treatment includes diagnosing
the cause,treating the cause and use of antineuropathic medications.When these treatments donot give adequate relief of medications cause intolerable side effect Sympathetic blocks can be done for good pain relief.In resistant cases advanced pain procedures like spinal cord stimulators can be tried.
